Our tavern is a family business which was started by the grandmother "Kalliotzina" in 1954! Initially, it was the main "kafeneio" of Koutsouras village, where locals would stop to drink a Greek coffee "enan ellhniko", or a shot of the Cretan alcohol spirit "mia raki" accompanied with a local delight "enan meze". In 1980, "Kalliotzina" passes to the family's sons who decide to turn it into a fully organized tavern. Without touching its traditional character, they started offering more and more dishes cooked by their wives, Maria and Sofia. The Cretan ladies cook for "Kalliotzina" as they would cook for their family. They carefully select the raw materials and they add the best Cretan extra virgin olive oil. Nothing less would they offer to their children and grandchildren, nothing less would they offer to you!
